The Belton Fire Department will be teaming up with the Red Cross to distribute free smoke detectors to the community from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28. Volunteers will go door-to-door in Miller Heights to distribute the free smoke alarms. Registration for volunteers begins at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1215 S. Wall St. Chief Pritchard is scheduled to address the group at 11 a.m. and there will be a brief training, followed by lunch at the church. The group will begin the distribution process around noon.
