Dana Peak Park Trail

Dana Peak Park Trail is a 7-mile loop trail right outside of Dana Peak Campground and Park in Harker Heights, 3800 Comanche Gap Road.

There are several minor trails that branch off of the main loop, so don’t be afraid to take the path less traveled. While the trail is easy to moderate in most parts, there are some areas of elevation, should you choose to follow the trails to the top of the peak.

Most of the trail is unshaded, though if you follow the loop to the right along the fence line you’ll find more tree cover.

Be prepared for a wide variety of landscapes as you hike. Everything from woodlands, grasslands, lakeside terrain, and rocky trails are to be expected.

The trail is dog, kid, bike, horse, and running friendly.

Parking is available at the trailhead, but is limited. Park off to the side of Comanche Gap Road if the gravel lot is full. Trail closes at sundown.
